Overview

If there is an eschaton out there, there will be evidence for it in cyberspace. There is an eschaton out there somewhere -- the challenge is to find the evidence.

The eschaton we are looking for is virtual, and we would like to keep it that way. By keeping an eye on it we can avoid having it turn into an actual end of the world.

A continuing definite possibility for the end of the world is nuclear war. Other mundane threats are plague, famine and general chaos. It is my understanding that these threats are only shadows of our impending cosmic transformation. The eschaton is the eye of the needle through which we must pass on our way to our spiritual destiny. If we miss the mark, our history will be short circuited at its end. Life will go on for us, but in entirely other contexts, other worlds.

The eschaton can be defined negatively or positively. In more neutral terms it is that Archimedean fulcrum by which we can move or transform the world. That is a delicate operation. We will all be taking a hand in our own brain surgery, in effect.

The proper networking will be our primary means for mastering the possibilities of the eschaton. That is the task that the Aquarium sets for itself, starting right here, if you will.
