Patrolling the Perimeter
Life on the Edge
I would like to pursue the idea of the cordon sanitaire that was mentioned in the previous piece. In doing so I will suggest an alternative to the standard view of 'MJ-12.'
On the standard view MJ-12 is a bastion that aggressively maintains a cordon sanitaire between the aliens and us. This is based on the view that UFOs are a physical phenomenon, which in turn is based on the view that our world is also physical. The idea of questioning reality rarely occurs to us as we take almost everything for granted. We suppose then that if there are any barriers between worlds that they must be artificially imposed and maintained by fiat. The MJ-12 are the overseers of the cosmic separation.
If, on the other hand, worlds are metaphysical then there will be natural barriers between them that are more profound than mere space. Apparent physical distance is only a metaphor for metaphysical discontinuities between alien and human consciousness. MJ-12 performs mainly the reconnaissance function of supervising the mapping of the shifting boundaries of consciousness. There are also specific preparatory exchanges that occur along the cosmic Berlin wall that are monitored by MJ-12. Ultimately MJ-12 is overseeing the crumbling of the Berlin wall that has delimited and defined our consciousness. An unobstructed universe is our patrimony, and we are its reluctant heirs. At worst, MJ-12 can do little more than reflect our fears of the great beyond.
Ufologists look to the supposed authority of MJ-12 to finally blow the lid on the cosmic cover-up. But that is not their call nor their calling. That is our job. MJ-12 can only monitor our progress toward understanding. We have the same access to the same cosmic secrets. Their only historical advantage was their greater initial awareness of their own ignorance. It was the 'big event' that triggered that awareness, the details of which are barely significant. The cosmic wall will crumble when our ignorance becomes as great as theirs.
The greatest barrier to our unknowingness may be the pseudo knowledge of too many ufologists who see their endeavor as a game of trivial pursuit. A focussed ignorance points to the path of disclosure. It is not the case of being blind, it is just a new way of seeing. The mystics have much knowledge but they lack the historical vision that is peculiar to the Western mind and crucial to resolving the present hiatus.
