If CNN or even CBN had covered the Crucifixion, Christianity would be a lot less interesting. Yet, most Christian sects seem to feel that they had been granted exclusive coverage on that portentous day.

Instead of entering directly into that no win battle, let us take a step back and consider the metaphysics of videotape. As an immaterialist I maintain that there are no objective records. Consider the words in this sentence. Those words have no more objective reality than, say, our bodies. Words and bodies and videotape exist only in the eyes, no, minds of the beholders. The beholders exist only in the mind of God who exists only in the minds of those who think, unconsciously(?), about her. Yes, we are still bootstrapping ourselves into existence, and the eschaton is our ultimate bootstrap. Reality is our conspiracy of imagination. If this makes you feel just a little bit dizzy and anxious, then you have gotten the point.

An encyclopedia does not actually consist of words, nor a rock of atoms. Each of them is an ideohologram, of sorts. God has not numbered every grain of sand, nor is the Encyclopedia Britannica written upon our collective unconscious. That would be misplaced concreteness. The writer and photographer, like all of us, are parts of a technocratic social matrix which is daily extending the bounds of our virtual reality through the circulation of mimetic viruses of all sorts. A book is a collection of mimetic viruses, and if you don't ask me what those are, I won't ask you what constitutes an actual scientific quantum observation event, e.g. if an event is recorded on a piece of paper which is then destroyed, did the event occur? Remember that all is fair in love and metaphysics!

But I have changed my mind. I will explain mimetic virus to you in the only manner that anything can ever be explained. I will do so by exhibiting the paradigm of all MV's. The Christ event was not an event, it was and is the mother of all MV's. It is the MV upon which our virtual reality is constructed. It is acting from outside of our virtual space and time. The X event contains the Alpha and the Omega, the creation and the eschaton. Jesus lived and lives in a way that you and I are struggling to emulate. Jesus lied when he said that he was the Son of God. He knew that we could not then bear the fact that He is God and we tried to kill him. Jesus is Lord, simpliciter. Fratricide was bad enough for us. The eucharistic body of the 'historical' Jesus is the quintessentially real object. It is more real than all the rocks and atoms and videotapes, etc. We are not the dust of stars, as some scientists would have us be. The starry sky is somehow the eucharistic holo(y)skin. And the eschaton is the hierogamy. If you can do half as well as that in explaining the nature of a quantum event, then you would win a Noble Prize, guaranteed!
