So you want to play the reality game.
Not yet knowing whether your talents favor natural magic or ‘technical’ magic, you will want to keep your options open for the time being.
Myself, I have always favored the theoretical side of things, but in the realm of magical ideas, there is not nearly as much distinction between theory and application as there is in conventional science.
There is no substitute for being well grounded in as many ways as possible. That means intellectually, personally, professionally, spiritually and every other way. At the same time, however, you need to be willing to live on the edge when necessary. Don’t go looking for trouble, but don’t run away from it either. Always keep your options open, stay flexible and roll with those punches. But also, if you are going to make a mistake, you might as well make it a big one. Don’t be half-assed. When you find something that works, stick with it and see where it goes.
The modern philosophers are correct in their assessment of the importance of language in the reality game. 75% of magic lies in our use of language, and symbols. 100% of reality is a construct of communication. Reality is nothing more and nothing less than a medium of communication. We are the mediums.
Stay connected. No substitute for a good network. Many beasties lurk in the shadows, two legged, three legged, etc. Get protection. Protection comes in many forms, be eclectic. Be paranoid, positively paranoid, not negatively. Keep in the flow of things, follow the synchronicity, but don’t let it take you over.
Keep your objectives clear and simple. Align your self with the cosmic plan. Operate simultaneously in the micro and macro cosms.
If this sounds like mundane common sense, you’re right. This same advice will help you to take out the garbage and bring in the flowers. It is just that 90% of the population spends most of its time doing the opposite. But don’t fret for them, they are God’s fool’s.
